After the inauguration ceremony, the Joint Research Center held its first meeting of the Management Committee to discuss and vote on the construction goals, institutional members, charter, operation and management mechanism of the Joint Research Center, and focused on the annual work plan of the Joint Research Center.

According to reports, the joint research center will focus on new fluorine-based materials, and conduct research and development in three directions: raw material guarantee and efficient utilization of fluorine-based energy materials, advanced manufacturing technology and equipment for fluorine-based energy materials, and development of next-generation high-performance fluorine-based energy materials. Liu Yiqun, Dean of the Research Institute of Tsinghua University, said in his speech that the key to self-reliance and self-improvement in science and technology lies in problem orientation, and efforts need to be made from two directions of "integration" and "communication" to find and solve problems. "Integration" means conducting interdisciplinary and multi-disciplinary research, which is also Tsinghua's advantage; "communication" means connecting industry and scientific research. The industry asks questions to universities, and universities work together with industries to solve problems.

At the subsequent seminar on the development of innovative industries of polyfluorine and polyfluorine-based new materials, Yang Huachun, director of Duofluoride New Materials Co., Ltd., introduced the action plan for cultivating and strengthening the industrial chain of fluorine-based new materials, which aroused wide recognition and heated discussions among experts and scholars attending the meeting.
